The state of the world.

I've mentioned before that I have a fake metal band on myspace but honestly, I don't keep up with it too much. Anyway, I logged into it and saw that I had received a few messages from an indie label wanting to talk to me about my band. Here is his email:

I have been spending some time on your myspace page and just listened to “hey listen.” I dig what you're doing. I have a few questions about your music and I want to discuss the possibilities of us working together.

My name is (name) and I work in Artist Development for (label), where we help independent artists like yourselves get where they want to be with their careers. Please take this opportunity to call me directly. There is a lot I would like to discuss about your music career and the potential of joining forces with us, so make sure you've got a few minutes when you call. You can reach me at  (phone number)  I'd prefer that you call instead of sending a MySpace or email, since I get way too many to read.

I don't keep up with it so I didn't log in and see his message for about a month. Well, he messaged again 2 weeks later with this:

Hey it’s (name) from (label) again. I never heard back from you. I tried contacting you about possibly working together. In case you missed the message or thought it was spam, I wanted to message you again. Anyway, if you do get this I still want to talk about your music and possibly working together. If you have any questions about legitimacy please read our company background I am sure that will clear things up. Call me directly anytime, my number is below.

I looked up the label and it is a fairly known indie label and is reputable. I felt the need to message him so this is what I sent him:

Hello (name).
My name is Chris and I am the person behind the band. The band itself is just me playing crappy metal songs with stream of consciousness lyrics to show that people will in fact like anything as long as it sounds like what is popular. I'm sorry to inform you that I am not in fact interested in dealing with your label and I hope that you do find the next big band of 3 months ago. Seriously, stop signing metal bands. We have enough.

Chris.
