Why I love my job...

2 sheriffs brought in a hog tied prisoner earlier. His head was wrapped in a bandage and there was a huge blood spot over his left eye. Before patients can come into the actual E.R., they have to be triaged. The triage nurse was asking him questions but all he kept complaining about was how the sheriffs stepped on his head. They went back and forth for about 5 minutes while the sheriffs kept telling him to stop cussing at the nurse.

Well, the nurse then asked him,"Are you in pain?"
He said, "I wasn't in pain until these damn cops with their damn badges stepped on my head and pushed it into the concrete!"
One of the sheriffs then replied to him,"Look. I think everyone here can look at you and tell that we kicked your ass. We're very sorry."

We all started laughing which made the guy scream and complain even more. (The "official" story of what happened was apparently the guy went crazy in the backseat of the squadcar and kicked out the windows and dented the cage and that was how he got hurt.) Since I am not registering tonight (I'm being trained for discharge) I decided to take my lunch right when they moved him into his room. The only reason being that the room they put him in (Room 13) shares a door with our lounge. I turned the tv on Sportscenter, turned it all the way down, and listened to him cuss out everyone who walked by for 30 minutes. It was amazing.

Also, while all of that stuff with that guy is going on, there is a lady here that is so drunk she just scribbled all over our consent forms we have to have signed (it looks like a 2 year old found a crayon) and then grabbed mike's hand and put it on her boob. Also, there is a whole family of mexicans in room 12 who don't speak english, None of us speak spanish, so we are just sort of avoiding room 12 until we can figure something out. Even the nurses are all avoiding 12. The nurses are all huddled around one computer playing online Wheel of Fortune. Don't worry about 12. They just have abdominal pain, same as everyone else.

I saw my first body tonight. It was so weird. It didn't seem like a real person.

I'm here until 7 in the morning and the few times that I have worked this late, I have taken a walk at about 3 in the morning around the halls. The reason being that when it is that late, there is no one anywhere, but you know there are people there. It is like in The Shining. It is you and your footstep's echo and then you turn a corner just in time to see someone turn the next corner. Then you wonder if they were really there. It's cool.

also, just because I found this:

It is a discussion on the Saddle Creek site about crappy music that people used to listen to and we get mentioned! I am excited. But not, because it is after 4 in the morning and I am tired.
